Abstract: Medical and health sciences libraries are making a transition from their
traditional roots as curatorial collections to a new identity as service providers.
Medical librarians are no longer just the gatekeepers for book collections; they are now
becoming managers of digital information and team players in the new information-intensive
medical world. This workshop will focus on changes that are affecting medical libraries
and librarians and their many clients, as both institutions and individuals come face-toface
with the services, materials and technologies that are transforming their
professional lives. Examples of best practices will be highlighted.
